Leadership Development & Human Resources

Growing Staff. Effective Leaders. Healthy Teams.

Wang Bixia

People are at the heart of all that we do at Cru Singapore. Within our organisation, the Leadership Development & Human Resources (LDHR) team focuses on developing leaders and stewarding the care of our people.

“Growing Staff. Effective Leaders. Healthy Teams.” is the basis for fulfilling our mission to Make Disciples Everywhere. We desire to see our staff and team leaders grow through the different stages of life and ministry responsibilities. We believe that when teams are healthy, they become more resilient and fruitful.

As part of our commitment to equip our staff, we set aside funds every year for staff to use in their spiritual and professional development through in-house or external providers. After a few years in ministry, they may pursue academic programmes at East Asia School of Theology (EAST) or other seminaries.

To encourage rest and soul-care, our staff are given a day each month for a personal retreat and/or mentoring. Every staff member has at least two Position Focus and Professional Review (PFPR) conversations every year with their supervisor to build role clarity, grow in selfawareness, and look into personal and professional development.

We facilitate the building of healthier teams–onboarding and equipping team leaders, and using team building tools like The Birkman Method to help staff grow in selfawareness and team collaborative skills.

To stay relevant in current HR practices, we continually revise and strengthen our policies and processes in the recruitment, development and retention of the right people in the right role. We also look into the unique and changing needs of the different generations of staff, from the Baby Boomers to the Gen Z, in our organisation.

We are often called upon to provide care and intervention help during times of crises or when staff face unexpected personal challenges. Sometimes it involves engaging in hard conversations. It brings us satisfaction when our staff and leaders grow in personhood and find their place in expressing their calling.
