Leveraging Technology for Missional Impact

Event Management and Donation Portal

With 19 ministries engaging a diverse range of audiences, Cru Singapore organises an average of 10 events per month, which aims to reach, build, train and send people to help fulfil the Great Commission.

Events are ticketed to manage venue capacity logistics. Additionally, paid ticketed events help cover some of the overhead costs associated with running the event. Significant effort and backend processes are put in place, to ensure smooth execution, provide a meaningful experience for attendees and support the overall mission of the ministry.

Back in the day, registration fees in cash or cheque were manually collected on the day of the event, and written receipts were prepared for the participants. After the fees were collected and accounted for, they would then be handed over to the Finance Team to process the banking and accounting entries.

Since the adoption of our event management and donation portal, MDE (Making Disciples Everywhere), in 2021, many of these processes have been streamlined. When participants register for an event, registration fee payment is now made online via PayNow or credit card, thus reducing the risk of loss, enhancing transparency and ensuring greater accountability. Receipts are automatically generated and emailed to participants.

In addition, our portal has made giving to over 400 support-raising staff and 100 ministry accounts (local and overseas) a breeze. We envision the adoption of eGIRO in time to come so that donors can conveniently set-up their recurring giving instructions.

Online Platform for Training and Equipping

Prior to 2020, most training and courses were held onsite at Cru Centre or rented facilities. Trainers and facilitators must be physically present to facilitate the programme. With the necessity to adopt online platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams during the pandemic, we are now better poised to offer our programmes to a wider audience—reaching, building and sending even more into the world.

Our desire is to equip and empower fellow believers to multiply and make disciples everywhere while harnessing the use of technology for effectiveness and maximum impact.
