You'll meet a huge need in the inner city ... HUNGER ... and shine the love and mercy of Jesus.
Jericho Road Ministries, a partner of Cru Inner City, typically serves 175 families on Friday mornings with their fresh produce distribution. With families in their community being some of the first impacted by the effects of COVID-19, Jericho Road saw that jump to almost 300 families the last couple weeks.
But how do you serve 300 families while social distancing? “God gave us the ability to think that through and grace to see it work,” said Jeff, who serves as the director of Jericho Road. They’ve been moving the distribution outside, boxing up the food in advance, coordinating how many people can show up at a time, and turning the parking lot into a socially-distanced waiting room.
*Since the above photo was taken, Jericho Road has continued to refine their methods for even better social distancing.
With Easter this past weekend and families coming for food on Good Friday, Jericho Road has been praying God would provide in order to have a protein option for families. Hearing of this through our staff, a friend of Cru Inner City was eager to respond. Because God was pleased to create options through us working together, 300 families received special food along with a special message of hope on Easter weekend.
“It’s not just physical needs. We want to impact people spiritually, as well,” Jeff shared. Not being able to gather as they typically would has changed their ministry model, but Jericho Road staff and volunteers are using creative ways to continue to share the Good News with those they meet. Along with desiring prayer for safety, Jeff requested, “Pray for the sharing of the message, that Word and deed both go forth.”
Interested in further creating options together?
Jeff shared a need for more face masks so they can continue to safely serve families in need. Would you consider making cloth face coverings for the men and women reaching out to people who are struggling and hurting at this time?
