In the holiday classic A Christmas Carol, Scrooge’s nephew Fred said, “I have always thought of Christmas time. . . as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely. . . .”
Hearts do seem more open this time of year. Ever stop to think about how easy it is to bridge into a conversation about Jesus during this season? All these carols we hear at the grocery store and the mall are because of Jesus’ birth, and some of them point directly back to Him. People at a Christmas party pour out into the neighborhood and go house to house singing carols about Jesus just for the fun of it. (This would be a good place to ‘plug’ caroling: If you’ve never gone before, you must. It really is fun!)
Pray right now that the Lord of the harvest will show you hearts that are ripe for His gospel. Step out today in faith to share with someone – friend or stranger – how God came into your life and changed you forever.
