Global Aid Network

On February 18th this year a very special event welcomed over 900 volunteers, including families, individuals, churches and service groups, to the Hope Center in Plano, Texas. Together, volunteers helped pack more than 17,000 Harvester Packs of seeds and 64,800 meals. In addition, more than 5,000 gospel bead bracelets were assembled by volunteers of all ages.

Global Aid Network’s Seed Program provides Harvester Packs of seeds, made up of five varieties of seeds. Each Harvester Pack is capable of producing up to 100 pounds of food in the first growing season alone. Volunteers packing seeds at this event helped provide needy families not only with food for their own use, but—as excess crops are sold—opportunities to provide funding for their children to go to school.

The Food and Seed Programs minister to children like José, one of the children at a learning center in Cruz Blanca, San Juan Sacatepequez, Guatemala. When a volunteer team from Global Aid Network visited the village, they fed the children and their mothers lunch. Afterwards, they gave them food to take home, along with Harvester Packs to plant their own vegetable gardens.

As the families were leaving, the team leader noticed one of the mothers talking excitedly and pointing to the Global Aid Network team members. The interpreter later shared what the mother said, “Thank [these people] for coming and for the gifts; I didn’t know what I was going to feed my children today.”

This food and seed aid packed and shipped to numerous locations around the world, including such areas as the Horn of Africa, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Guatemala, and countries in Central Asia.
