Athletes In Action is a community that helps athletes grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. Here, we believe that every athlete/coach was created to make a difference. When athletes know how to grow in every dimension of life, they will be lifelong leaders and influencers. AIA values helping sport influencers in learning to use their platform to unleash lifelong leaders on sports teams.
Globally, AIA has been building spiritual movements through the platform of sport for over 50 years. It has a presence in over 60 countries, working in partnership with locally-led ministries.
Locally, AIA began in Trinidad & Tobago the early 1980's with the then Caledonia AIA football club (now known as Morvant Caledonia United). The team included young men from the Morvant, Laventille, San Juan, and Barataria environs. Over the years the ministry expanded to reach out to teams and clubs across the spectrum of sports, including football, basketball, cricket, and track and field. One of the main goals for AIA Trinidad & Tobago is to have a chaplain on every team in the twin island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. AIA also trains local churches in sports ministry.
