Singapore, a tiny red dot on the world map, is home to a population of 6 million people.

The sunny island is made up of a diverse mix of ethnicities and culture. Formerly a small fishing village, early forefathers arrived from China, India, Malaysia and Eurasia. Through trade, the pioneers became merchants, building Singapore into the cosmopolitan city it is today.

In 2015, Singapore celebrated their Golden Jubilee, 50 years since the nation’s independence from British colonial rule. Singapore is also known as a garden city thanks to its lush greenery and year-round tropical climate. The Singapore Botanic Gardens are honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Campus life here is abuzz with activities and student interests vary from social causes to intellectual exchanges. Students in our local universities tend to chase after academic success in order to secure for themselves a stable future. However, they are also open to exploring different views and spiritual matters. We are looking for like-minded believers with a passion to reach their friends for Christ in this vibrant city!

YOU MAY BE WONDERING…

Where can I study?

You are welcome to study at any of the following universities:

What types of classes can I take?

These universities offer a wide variety of programs for coursework that will count toward most degrees. The study abroad office on your campus can help you select the courses you need for your degree requirements. It will be similar to a normal course load (about 16 credit hours) you would have in the United States.

When can I go?

The general academic calendar for Singapore’s universities is August through December for the fall term and January through May for the spring term.

What kind of ministry will I be doing?

Established Cru ministries in each of the universities listed above are committed to initiative evangelism and building intentional relationships. You will participate in our weekly gatherings, leader retreats and the inter-campus conferences in August or December. During the long term break in December, you are also welcome to join in our RevUp mission projects as they are available.

Where will I live?

Most campuses have dormitories available for your stay or you can look for other accommodations recommended by your school. Singapore is a very small island with great public transportation, so it is quick and easy to travel anywhere in the city.

Will there be a language barrier?

Singapore is a multi-cultural society of various races, but English is the main medium of communication in schools and businesses island-wide.

How much will this cost?

Study abroad costs vary depending on the university and study abroad program you choose. The Cru Study Abroad program cost is $75, and if you take part in a student retreat or camp in Singapore, those typically cost between $50 and $80. Students interested in a missions project over the Christmas break will incur additional expenses.
