You can’t help but fall in love with the natural beauty of New Zealand that draws tourists in from all around the globe. There is nothing quite like seeing the beautiful landscapes that are never far away. While exploring Middle-earth, you can catch a glimpse into the culture of the ‘Kiwis’ as well as New Zealand’s Maori heritage.
Not only will you get to expand your horizons by studying abroad in New Zealand, you’ll also get to share the most important thing in your life with others – a relationship with God. In Acts 1:8 when Jesus said that His disciples would be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, interestingly, New Zealand is said to be the furthest country from Jerusalem. Having just celebrated 200 years of the gospel here, we are ready to be a part of a fresh move of God across the country. We would love to have Americans – to have you – join us in changing the world and seeing lives transformed through knowing Jesus.
You will be studying at the University of Canterbury (UC) in Christchurch, New Zealand.
These universities offer a wide variety of programs for coursework that will count towards most students’ degrees. The study abroad office on your campus can help you select the courses you need for your degree requirements. Your course load will be similar to a normal load (about 16 credit hours) of classes you would have in the States.
Approximate study dates are July through mid-November for the spring semester and February through June for the fall semester. Don’t forget the seasons and semesters are flipped over this side of the hemisphere.
Ministry at UC will include initiating spiritual conversations with students through surveys, outreach, and relational evangelism, and walking alongside them as Christians and non-Christians alike explore what a relationship with Jesus is about.
UC have a number of student halls (dormitories) or apartments in the vicinity of the university. Alternatively, you could opt to flat (board) with a group of others.
No. We speak English here!
Costs vary depending on the university, academic program and the study abroad program you choose. It may be significantly less if your university has a direct exchange program with your university.
