John Wooden Family Fieldhouse To Open This Weekend

65,000-Square-Foot Fieldhouse is the 2nd in the Nation to Bear Wooden’s Name

DAYTON, Ohio, June 12, 2024—Athletes in Action celebrates southwest Ohio’s newest athletic facility with the grand opening of the John Wooden Family Fieldhouse on Saturday, June 15. Located in Xenia, Ohio, on the Athletes in Action campus, the state-of-the-art facility pays tribute to legendary Coach John Wooden, a cherished figure in the sporting and mentoring realms, whose legacy inspires generations of athletes worldwide.

With space to accommodate up to four collegiate-size basketball courts that can also be used for volleyball and pickleball, the John Wooden Family Fieldhouse will serve as a holistic sports center. In addition to the main championship court, it houses an advanced training room with hot and cold recovery tubs, a wrestling room, conference rooms for teams to meet and a bouldering wall.

The John Wooden Family Fieldhouse stands as a testament to Coach Wooden’s enduring impact on sportsmanship, leadership and personal development. Outside of UCLA, where he coached 10 NCAA championship teams, the fieldhouse is the only other building in the country that will bear his name.

“We are honored to open the John Wooden Family Fieldhouse, a tribute to Coach Wooden’s unparalleled legacy,” said Mark Householder, president of Athletes in Action. “This facility embodies our commitment to holistic total athlete development, in which excellence in sport is paralleled by mental and spiritual development on and off the field. We invite the community to join us in commemorating Coach Wooden’s enduring impact on sports and society.”
