Cru at Ball State is a movement of students and faculty who are passionate about knowing Jesus and telling His story by getting, giving, and multiplying the Gospel.
Fundamentally, we are all about Jesus and the life-changing message of the gospel. The gospel is the good news of who God is and what he has done, is doing, and will do through the person and work of Jesus Christ. For this reason, we build movements that are centered on Christ.
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)
Our desire is to help students encounter Jesus and grow in their relationship with God in the context of authentic relationships. This happens primarily through our community groups that meet on campus and our weekly meetings where the gospel and its implications for our lives are discussed.
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28)
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
But we don’t want to keep this message to ourselves. We desire that every student be given the opportunity say “yes” to Jesus. So we train and equip students to “give the gospel” to their peers. This happens throughout the school year as we host campus-wide outreaches as well as make personal efforts to share Christ with others.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 4:13-15)
Finally, we want to help students who are getting and giving the gospel to then pour these things into the lives of men and women who will in turn do the same. As that happens, the gospel will be multiplied not only at Ball State, but around the world.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”(Matthew 28:18-20)
…and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2)
Whether or not you are a Christian, we hope you’ll stop by our weekly meeting or a community group and experience our community for yourself. We look forward to having you.
