The Agape Center is a safe, supportive place for people to gather and grow mentally, physically, and in their relationship with Jesus. We offer year-round programming and mentorship for kids, teens, and adults in Roseland, Chicago, where we have been serving our neighbors since 1979.

Mentoring & Discipleship

Teen Bible Study

  • Description: Teens will learn about the Bible and following Jesus in a fun, interactive, relational setting. Caring adult leaders act as mentors and guides. DINNER is included!
  • Grades: 7th-12th graders
  • Days/Times: Thursdays, 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 26th - Nov. 14th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 30 students

The Bridge

  • Description: Join this young adult Bible study gathering for encouraging community, spiritual growth, and steps to adulting with Jesus.
  • Age Range: 18 (post high school) - 25 years old
  • Days/Times: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Adult Discipleship Training

  • Description: Adults will learn from God's word and experienced teachers how to grow in their faith and help other people do the same.
  • Days/Times: Mondays, 7:00–9:00 p.m.

Reading & Phonics

  • Description: Reading is fun! Students will grow in reading skills in a fun, interactive environment.
  • Grades: 1st-3rd graders
  • Days/Times: Mondays, 4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 23rd - Nov. 11th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 10 students

Next Level Reading & Phonics

  • Description: We are excited to offer professionally trained literacy instruction that will help your child develop reading strategies for before, during, and after reading passages. Students will also grow in understanding challenging science and social studies terms.
  • Grades: 4th-8th graders
  • Days/Times: Mondays and Thursdays, 4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 23rd - Nov. 14th (8 weeks)

Arts & Music

Arts & Crafts for 1st-3rd Graders

  • Description: Students will explore a variety of arts and crafts techniques and projects in a hands-on, interactive environment.
  • Grades: 1st-3rd graders
  • Days/Times: Wednesdays, 4:00–5:30 p.m.
  • Dates: Sep. 25th - Nov. 13th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 10 students

  • Description: Students will explore a variety of arts and crafts techniques and projects in a hands-on, interactive environment.

Art for Teens

  • Description: Students will explore a variety of arts and crafts techniques and projects in a hands-on, interactive environment.
  • Grades: 7th-12th graders
  • Days/Times: Tuesdays, 5:00–6:30 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 24th - Nov. 12th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 10 students

Beginning Piano

  • Description: Students will learn the basics of playing piano, building toward short performance pieces
  • Grades: 4th-8th graders
  • Days/Times: Wednessdays, 4:00–5:15 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 25th - Nov. 13th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 6 students

Athletics & Dance

Hip Hop Dance

  • Description: Teens will learn how to hip hop dance, including breakdance and footwork. This class will be taught by a trained instructor from Red Clay Dance Company 
  • Grades: 1st-6th graders
  • Days/Times: Tuesdays, 5:00–6:30 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 23th - Nov. 11th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 15 students

Gym Games

  • Description: Kids will play age-appropriate games in our gym for fun and exercise
  • Grades: 1st-6th graders
  • Days/Times: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. 
  • Dates: Sept. 23rd - Nov. 13th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 15 students

Power Punch Pivot!: Fitness Worth Fighting For

  • Description: Teens will experience fun, functional fitness for greater movement, confidence, and productive service.
    • Power Fitness Training: Full-body balance, mobility skills, greater strength and stamina.
    • Power Punch Pivot Boxing Skills (no head/face contact). Learn self-defense skills: punching, footwork, defense. Increase target focus and confidence.
    • Power Community: group check-ins, faith encouragement, goal support.
  • Instructor: David "Coach D" West, CPT, BA, is a certified fitness trainer, boxing coach, motivational speaker, pastor.
  • Grades: 7th-12th graders
  • Days/Times: Mondays, 7:00–8:00 p.m.
  • Dates: Sept. 23rd - Nov. 11th (8 weeks)
  • Registration limit: 12 students
